Dorothy’s Gardens exhibition. Elmhirst Heritage Centre (Dartington). All week.

The spring exhibition, Dorothy’s Gardens features photographs from the archive and extracts from Dorothy Elmhirst’s own garden diaries. The display brings to life the rapid redevelopment of the formal Victorian grounds into thriving and beautiful gardens so loved by Dorothy. The exhibition includes the beautiful Tilt Yard Lady by local sculptress Jilly Sutton.

Local legend Harula Ladd will be running some creative writing workshops on six Friday afternoons, from Friday 19th June, 2pm – 3.30pm at Totnes Library
All welcome, no previous experience necessary! It’s not about ‘writing well’ it’s about writing freely, bravely, exploring and surprising oneself during these sessions. Drop in to the first session- no booking required, donations appreciated.

On Friday, Hidden Coves is an acoustic duet formed in 2022 by singer/songwriter Asha Merrington-Pink and Laurie Cox, their captivating performances and deep-rooted passion for music have left audiences wanting more.
On Saturday, Looping jazz, rock, ambiance from Jazzient playing original and some well known tunes in their unique groovy style.

Robin Ince is many things. A multi award winning comedian, author, broadcaster, bibliomaniac and a populariser of scientific ideas. He is perhaps best known as the former co-host and co-creator of the Sony Gold Award winning BBC Radio 4 series The Infinite Monkey Cage with Professor Brian Cox.

Carers’ Dementia Support Group. Quayside Bistro (Longmarsh). Wed 24 Jun. 12.15-1.45.
Carers of people living with dementia meet monthly over lunch in a safe, friendly environment to share experiences and anxieties, provide support to each other, share information, make new friends, and relax.  Carers say they learn from each other, understand better how dementia progresses and feel more confident in facing decisions required in the short term and which are likely to arise in the future.  Carers may be partners, children or siblings.

Carers meet on the last Wednesday of each month from 12.15pm to 1.45pm.   If you wish, you can bring the person you care for who will have lunch in a nearby space with some of our experienced volunteers.

Carer: ”I realised I was not alone, that there were others in similar situations as me.”

Evening Pottery Workshop. China Blue. Wed 24 Jun. 5.00-8.00.

Learning the basics of pot throwing and clay modelling during this 3-hour session. Taught by one of our expert potters, you will receive the guidance to make three items that can later be painted and glazed once the clay has dried. This workshop is held on the last Wednesday of every month.
